THE GENERATION GAP
Now a days our society facing many problems but among these major problems a very serious problem is The Generation gap this problem is not only faced by Pakistani society as well as international societies.
Teenagers have lost respect for their parents and elders and the virtue of obedience is absent. Boys and girls no longer regard the standards and experience of their parents as having relevance to and authority for, their own situations. The urge to be good which the healthy goal of youth in former times was has given place to cynicism and rebellion .The older generation of parents and elders find themselves utterly helpless. Not only material values but traditional and moral values have been thrown aside by the younger generation.
The slow tempo and the uncomplaining acceptance of circumstances and situations, however, unpleasant and even painful, by the younger generation have gone for good and the spirit of rebellion and disregard are holding away. With life expectancy increasing and population growing alarmingly and million of people floating around unemployed for years and seeing little prospect of unemployment and satisfying conditions anywhere in the foreseeable future, this sneer and cynicism and disillusionment of the younger generation with the elders and society in general are understandable.
Teenagers throughout the world ,and at all times ,have these basic needs-freedom to experiment and adventure- they desire challenging and emotional satisfying experiences; security to depend upon a safe future and trustworthy and reliable personal relations; and most important ,faith ,something to believe in a target or a goal worth striving for relentlessly.
The definition of a teenager is “a person who has cast off the dependence of childhood on parental care, but who has not taken on the responsibilities of an adult.” Experimentation and mobility are necessary to the teenagers to enable him or her to settle down to an adult role in life. The teenager is not happy in freedom unless this freedom also provides security at the same time.
Unemployment has been increasing at an alarming level in practically every profession in our country. This has a terrifying effect on the youth desperately yearning for security. There seems to be very little hope for the solution to this problem that has been growing worse and worse year after, and our leaders do not have answer to this burning question. Where there is insufficient security of established attitude and values, freedom tends to become mere foolhardy bravado and heedlessness to damaging consequence.
The solution for the generation Gap is for youth to be educated to have interest, take interest, and once this has been achieve, the feeling of estrangement and spirit of rebellion will disappear. The present defective educational system pf mass producing graduates and post graduates has engendered in the students an aversion to manual work and wrong notion of dignity. Engaging them in voluntary social, cultural, economic relief and other such group activities will clear the students of the mistaken prejudice against manual work and promote more cordial relations irrespective of difference in age , social and economic status and in other respects.
